I-95 Interchange at Gateway Boulevard Design Project
What is the purpose of this project?
The purpose of the project is to improve the SR-9 / I-95 Interchange at Gateway Boulevard (Exit 59) to accommodate project traffic demands through 2040.
What are the limits for this project?
The area is located in eastern Palm Beach County within the City of Boynton Beach at Gateway Boulevard at SR-9 / I-95. Work on I-95 will occur from just south of the Boynton Canal bridge to just north of the Gateway Boulevard Interchange and work on Gateway Boulevard will occur from west of High Ridge Road to east of Seacrest Boulevard in the City of Boynton Beach.
What are the planned improvements?
This design-bid-build project consists of widening, milling and resurfacing the existing SR 9 / I- 95 at Gateway Boulevard interchange. The project includes: the addition of a new through lane in each direction on Gateway Boulevard; addition of a new dedicated northbound on-ramp turn lane from westbound Gateway Boulevard; addition of a 2nd left turn lane from Gateway Boulevard to northbound High Ridge Road; median modifications; and new medians on Gateway Boulevard at the I-95 on and off ramps, and a new median east of Seacrest Boulevard. Bike lanes and sidewalks along both sides of Gateway Boulevard are also included. This interchange project proposes to enhance operational capacity, reduce congestion, and increase safety.
What is a Design-Bid-Build project?
A Design-Bid-Build (DBB) project is separated into two contracts for the design and construction, all in accordance with standard Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) criteria, specifications and contract administration practices.
